Foxes, February 4th

upstreamforestschool

We took the Foxes to the mountains and for a day they became the Arctic Foxes. Their stamina for the cold exceeded our expectations. Although at times it was difficult for a few of the Foxes, the others rallied around them to encourage them to go on in our late morning hike. We did a loop of the Big Kidd trail, which took more than 2 hours. Ask your Owl what they saw; any tracks, any wildlife? What did they feel? Was it hard? What was their favourite part to the hike. There were lots of joyful hurrahs when we started going down hill in the fresh powder.

Over lunch we warmed up in the hotel in Kananaskis village. The Foxes were perfectly behaved as we sipped tea and quietly talked in British voices. Many of the Owls had a hand at the board games scattered around the lounge.

For the rest of the day we headed to what might be the most 'epic' toboggan hill with the most beautiful view. It took some time to pad the snow down, but once we got going the Foxes transformed into Flying Foxes. There was also a crew that wanted to dig out a fort in the snow. After relocating several times they found the perfect place to begin. Unfortunately it was time for us to head back to the parking lot. So if you are looking for a fun little getaway let your Fox lead the way - or ask us and we can send you the directions.

Without a doubt Flying, Arctic Foxes all earned their Extreme Cold Badge!

A big thank you to Bella for driving!!!!!
