Our trip to Nose Hill was a success for many reasons. The Coyotes proved that their map reading skills and compass skills are up to the Elk Lakes Cabin skill level. I trust that they can read the map, and make navigational decisions based on the topo lines and the info given on the map. We also hiked a large part of the 14th St side of Nose Hill, getting ready for our hike into the Cabin, and also had a taste of bush whacking (or bushbashing, as Lucy insists we call it) which was perhaps our favourite. When we came to a thinly frozen pond of water, I was worried about wet feet, but if they did get wet feet, I didn't hear about it at all; they dealt with the consequences of their actions, and were OK to be uncomfortable. They are so ready!
Ask your Coyote about the wildlife we saw!
We will continue to prepare for our trip over the weeks to come. An important part of the trip is the transportation to and from the railhead; we would love not to drive, to be able to focus completely on the hike and the trip. if you are able to drive either there or back, (we need to fit 14 people total, and will cover gas) please let us know!
