After some games of sardines and deadman the Cottontails sat down to have their lunch and catch up on the Wild Robot. Once everyone had eaten we headed down to harvest some caragana. Before choosing the pieces we would cut we talked about why it is okay to cut caragana and how we should cut it respectfully. We talked about the honourable harvest, what other gifts caragana gives us (such as banana beans!) and asked permission to cut the stalks we picked.
Bringing our harvest up to the bluff we settled into an afternoon of weapon making and tool skills! The Cottontails are getting so good at whittling, stripping bark and sawing its incredible. Some completed their bows and arrows and some have more to do on them next week. If possible please get your child to bring their weapons for target practice next week!

There was also a lot of work done on another trap. This time they were hoping to trap an Avyn or a Coyote. It is lovely to see new friendships sparking and how the group works so well as a team.
We ended the day with journals and a debrief that was themed around creating symbols of the things they enjoyed and the things they found challenging in the day.
