Today we embraced the gift of ice from nature! We hammered it, we slid, we collected, and we painted ice. During the hammering the Chickadees noticed the different types, bumpy smooth, bubbles, and there were leaves stuck in some parts. Ask your Chickadee which ice they enjoyed hammering the most? We read a book about a little hedge hog and built our own using nails and foam. Some of the Chickadee's changed their hedgehog into a fighter plane and spent lots of time putting more and more nails in, choosing the heights they pushed them in and where on the foam. During free play, there was time spent in the kitchen, building animal homes and of course building fighter planes. We ended off the class with soap carving and will continues with it next week, perhaps making boats to slide down the ice!
