Today we continued learning about birds, we have been learning about the different sounds the chickadees make since they always come to visit us. Ask your chickadee if they remember the song they sing to each other! Then we built bird nests, using natural materials like grass, leaves, snow and twigs but also some cardboard and soft fluff. However these were not just any nests they needed to protect the eggs even when dropped from the tree! Many of the children have been very interested in pulleys which allowed us to learn about sturdy nest creation and gravity! During free time, the pulleys/nests continued to be explored (like making them heavier), while other gravitated towards potato peeling and playing in the hammock.
